West Midlands Easter African Music Fiester 2008
It’s yet another traditional Easter fulfilment as the hottest African band in Birmingham- The Pilgrims band- and the famous D.J. Pita Mogonbo hit the West Midlands this Easter season.
Bubbles-n-Squeak Promoters presents: The Pilgrims – a formerly well known gospel band, better known for its Afro beat sound – a fusion of West African rhythms, Hawaiian guitar and traditional talking drum called ‘Bata’.
The undisputed king of Nigeria's contemporary music, the band lead singer, Adedamola Olayanju, a.k.a Dammy and The Pilgrims returns to Birmingham with his 8-piece group, The Ultimate Band for the ultimate dance show that promises to rock the West Midlands to its foundations.
Dammy has taken the rebellious youth music of Oyo State that is traditionally contemporary music and added hard funk and reggae back beat to make the music even more infectious. At the heart of this music is Dammy’s glorious voice driven by the rich eloquence of the massed talking drums and the ecstatic call and response of the backing vocalists.
